A Study on Plasma Renin Activity Measurement

Abstract
|
|
|
Measurment of PRA is performed on plasma sample without addition of exogenous renin or PRS (plasma renin substrate). Angiotensin I is measured by RIA. after incubation of the patients´s plasma under standard condition. The concentration of angiotensin I is a measure of the activity of renin under conditions that occur in the patient.
*It is an important requirement that the generation of angiotensin I be linearly related to the temperature and time of incubation.
a) Under the level of PRA at 37C be 100%, than at 451C was 92.6%, at 351C was 76.1%, at 33 *C was 66.5% and at 23C was 19.3%. The results show that the variations of temperature affected the PRA levels.
b) Under incubation temperature fixed to 371C and the levels of PRA at 1 hour be 100%, than at 0.5 hour was 134%, at 2 hours was 98% and at 3 hours was 88%.
It means there were linealy relation between the values of PRA and incubation time.
c) When the incubation temperature be 4 C, there were no changes according to various incubation time.
